Eau de parfum vs. extrait: what is the difference?

Concentration, longevity and how each one wears through the day.

Loui Martin La Jour Seleve, Apogee and Imagination on a sunlit rock in a meadow

The difference is concentration: how much perfume oil is dissolved in the alcohol. An eau de parfum usually holds a moderate share; an extrait de parfum holds the most.

More oil means a scent that sits closer to the skin and lasts longer, often through the evening. An eau de parfum projects a little more at first and feels lighter.

Neither is better. Choose an eau de parfum for daytime and warm weather, an extrait when you want a scent to stay with you.
